Nguyen Ngoc Linh is a prominent artist and art educator in the Vietnamese art community, best known as the founder of Nhau Studio and a pioneer in structuring applied Anatomy for Artists in Vietnam. His work deeply integrates human anatomy with influences leaning toward surrealism.
Nguyen Ngoc Linh (b. 1980) graduated from the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts.
In 2015, he moved to France to study at the University of Strasbourg. During his time there, his encounter with the classic anatomical treatise Anatomie Artistique sparked a deep fascination with human structural mechanics, marking a defining turning point in his artistic trajectory. Between 2016 and 2018, he spent extensive time conducting direct observational research on human anatomy at the Institute of Anatomy in Strasbourg. Upon returning to Vietnam, he continued his osteological and anatomical studies at the Institute of Anatomy (Hanoi Medical University).
What sets Nguyen Ngoc Linh’s methodology apart is his integration of classical anatomical literature, direct observation of bone structures and human bodies, and rigorous life drawing practice. He aims to build a systematic framework that guides students to deeply understand body structures rather than relying on superficial drafting formulas.
Linh's artistic practice centers heavily on human anatomy infused with surrealist undertones. He uses bone structures, muscle dynamics, and biological transformations as metaphors to reflect profound reflections on existence, living identity, and the enigmatic facets of contemporary social life.
