Tran Huynh Phu Khanh (commonly known by his artistic name Khanh Tran or Tahypuka) is a Vietnamese freelance illustrator and art educator.
Early Passion: Khanh Tran demonstrated an early aptitude for painting. Graduating from the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUARC) with his graduation project titled "Always be good friends", the work also won Second Prize in the children's book creation contest organized by the Embassy of Denmark and Kim Dong Publishing House.
Game Artist & Illustrator Era: After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, he worked as a Game Artist for the technology corporation VNG. However, seeking creative freedom and his true artistic identity, he decided to transition into a freelance illustrator.
Crisis & Studying in the UK: Having experienced an artistic identity crisis while working in applied arts, Phu Khanh decided to pursue higher education at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) in the UK to elevate his thinking in pure fine art. There, under the guidance of European professors, he unlocked the concepts of "mark making" and "narrative," which completely liberated his creative mindset.
Art Education Activities: Upon returning from the UK, Tran Huynh Phu Khanh shifted strongly toward the role of an art educator. He is the founder of a personalized 1:1 art portfolio mentorship model, specializing in instilling solid painting fundamentals for children and helping high school students build art portfolios to study abroad in Europe. His teaching philosophy is influenced by European educational methods: he strictly avoids touching or fixing students' artwork to preserve their unique "artistic voice," while requiring learners to read and write essays to build a scientific foundation of thought in art rather than just practicing pure techniques.
Not confined to any specific medium, Khanh Tran constantly seeks opportunities to expand his creative boundaries into various painting materials, such as oil painting, acrylic, and oil pastel. He frequently experiments with combining multiple mediums across a single series of works.
